How To Seal A Travertine Shower Stall

Travertine is one of the most aesthetically pleasing natural stones on the market, which is why a large number of homeowners have decided to use it to clad their shower stalls. As it is quite a porous stone and is prone to etching, however, it is important that you ensure your travertine has been properly sealed before deciding to take a shower. Step 1: Look over your tiles to spot where any holes may be lurking. These occur naturally in travertine, but can make sealing the stone a little difficult. Mix together an appropriate epoxy and brush it into the gaps; leave to dry and apply a second coat. Step 2: Mix together the travertine sealant you have picked up (according to the manufacturer’s directions) and begin applying it to the tiles using the accompanying applicator or a microfiber cloth. Wait 15 minutes so that the sealant begins to dry and use a dry cloth to buff away excess sealant. Step 3: Once the coat has completely dried, you can begin applying the second layer.
