How To Remove Super Glue From Granite

Even though granite is a highly durable stone that is able to withstand a lot of wear and tear, there are some products (such as super glue) that pose difficulties when it comes to cleaning up spills. For one, you want to ensure that you don’t use a cleaning product that only embeds the glue further into the stone and, for two, you don’t want to risk scratching or chipping your attractive granite tiles or counter top in any way.

Step 1: Take some acetone and apply a very small amount to an inconspicuous area of the granite (such as under the bench or in a hidden corner). Leave the solution to sit on the stone for around 24 hours to see if it affects it in any way (don’t worry about the finish, however, as you can always reapply this).

Step 2: If your granite has not been affected, you can put on a pair of rubber gloves and apply some acetone to a cotton swab. Use the swab to rub the acetone around the outer edges of the super glue stain. Try and remove as much of the stain as possible with the cotton swab.

Step 3: Take a razor blade and use it to gently scrape away any of the remaining super glue. If you are a bit nervous about using a razor, a small putty knife will also work. Regardless of which blade you use, however, it is important that you don’t use too much pressure or you risk scratching the granite.

Step 4: Once all the glue has been removed, give the granite a thorough clean using a wet, soapy rag. Then, use an appropriate cleaner and reapply the finish (if necessary).

As you can see, removing super glue stains from your granite tiles and counter tops can be a very simple process, providing that you know what you are doing and have the correct materials. As a little tip, if you cannot find straight acetone, a nail polish remover that contains acetone will do the trick as well.

How To Remove Burn Marks From Granite

When granite is used as a bench top material in the kitchen it can sustain serious burn marks if hot pots are left on the surface, and when used as a vanity top in the bathroom a curling iron that has been left on can have a similar effect. If you have been unfortunate enough to notice burn marks on the surface of your granite, you will probably be interested in how you can go about removing them. Step 1: Wet the area of the granite that has sustained the burn mark using some clean, cold water. Then, using a very fine grade of sandpaper, begin sanding the mark off. Make sure that you use a gentle, circular motion to avoid causing further damage. Step 2: Wipe the area down with a soft, damp cloth to remove any debris. Then, using an even finer grade of sandpaper, continue to sand the granite. Again, be sure to only use a gentle, circular motion. Step 3: Rinse the area with cold water and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth. If you are satisfied that the burn mark has been rem

How To Remove Leaf Stains From Your Bluestone

One of the biggest problems associated with bluestone when used outdoors (as a patio, pathway or even steps) is that when leaves and other garden debris are left on its surface to decompose, it can stain the stone. These stains can be difficult to remove, but with the right method you are sure to get rid of them in no time. Begin by cleaning down the bluestone pavers. Sweep the loose leaves and debris away, then hose off any mud or decomposed parts. You will then need to put on some waterproof gloves, safety glasses, waterproof boots and protective clothing (such as overalls) to prevent your skin from coming into contact with the chemicals you will be working with. Next, fill a bucket with 10 parts warm water and 1 part household bleach. Make sure that you mix this solution together thoroughly. If there are any plants nearby to the stained areas of bluestone, cover them with a plastic drop cloth to protect them from damage caused by the solution. Simply po
